July 7, 2009
Some of you may or may not know that, much like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, systems administrators have their own holiday. It’s celebrated on the last Friday in July, and it’s called System Administrators Appreciation Day. I’ve never so much as received a mug, but that doesn’t stop me from still liking the fact that we have our own day.
In honor of this auspicious occasion, I’m organizing a get together in the Big Apple. I figure it would be nice to hang out and get to know my fellow admins in the area, and get to know some more people, since I’m new around here.
I’ve created a page with all of the important details, but the vital stuff is this: It’s in midtown Manhattan, so that out of towners can take the train in. It’s at 7:30pm, because I wanted to give them time to get there and because the “after work” crowd disperses by then, and significant others are welome. Also, please contact me (either through email, twitter, or just through the comment box below) and let me know if you’re coming and how many, just so I can give the bar an idea. I may have to reserve the back area, depending.
Come meet your fellow sysadmins for a drink!
