Does your datacenter have a plug?

You know, a drain plug?
I’m on vacation today, so of course I’m sick. I wasn’t going to write an entry at all, but when I saw this on datacenterknowledge.com, I had to share.
So I ask again, does your datacenter have a drain plug?
Because this one needed one:

….I don’t have a plug, but I do have some really nice o_O circa 1990 carpet tiles which I’m sure are good for generating vast quantities of static :/
apparently the people who put the carpet in the office glued the tiles on top of the suspended floor with copious amounts of glue. When we had a recable 18 months ago, the cable guys had to use crowbars to get the floor pannels up due to the glue.
It’s all a little bit mad lol

wow just finished watching all of that…
those guys on duty are a bit mad, i know theres dedication to duty, but when water is past my ankles and still rising, i’m heading for higher ground.
i wasn’t expecting the explosion of water though in the rack room. i couldn’t tell if it blew up or down.
if that happens, well i guess your looking for new premises…ooh google ships…

Ugh, I took a sick day too. Must be going around.
Anywho, I have nightmares about this too, as one wall of one of my data rooms is shared with the Mens room. Hopefully my raised floor is high enough to not have to worry too much.

yes. I even go around occasionally and test it by pouring a jug of water down it. my dad’s lab had a fire system pipe break and their drains werent working. a few hundred thousand dollars of lab equipment needed moved veeeery quickly.

@rb
wow, that’s crazy! If you’d already been burned like that once, I suppose it would make you more paranoid and want to prevent it from happening again. Thanks for sharing!
