List of my subscribed RSS feeds

Date October 11, 2009

People ask me what RSS feeds I read. I actually get asked that question pretty frequently, so rather than memorize the dozen or so most frequently updated lists, I thought that I would just export the list from Google Reader, prune it a wee bit, and then format it so that it could be easily read.

I’ve done that now, with my Subscribed Feeds page. It’s not automagically generated or anything, so I’ll manually update it a few times a year. Honestly, my list doesn’t change much. I’ll stumble across the occasional newer sysadmin blog and subscribe, but I almost never remove someone because they don’t update. The only times I can think of when I’ve actively removed a feed was because it turned into trash updates.

We all take breaks from our blogs, and a hiatus can be months at a time, especially considering how our schedules work. Just because you don’t update doesn’t mean that you won’t in the future, and I don’t “punish” a blog for that. Like me removing them from my reader is really a punitive damage worth worrying about, or something. Anyway, chances are great that you’ll find dead links and detritus in the provided links. Sorry about that. If it bothers you, drop me a line or comment here.

Anyway, enjoy the list, and let me know if you think something else should be on there! I’m always looking for more things to divert me from actual work!

    Do you have an OMPL available?

    Matt, a great list of links. If you’re looking for things to do with it, I might suggest some kind of organization (alphabetical or something would be nice) or if you’re feeling really brave, a few tags for each entry to categorize them. I’m always good at suggesting work for other people to do. :-)

    I’d guess that I really read around 10% of the incoming stuff. Factor into that my subscribing to many blogs that are also aggregated into one (or more) planets.

    @Jack
    You’re welcome! I hope you can find some stuff you like there

    @Andrew
    I’ll work on getting my OMPL on the server and linked to from the page tonight. Good idea!

    @Ben C
    I need to alphabetize them, for sure. I’m not even going to attempt to tag them. The thought has occurred to make that page a wiki, so that anyone could go in and edit it. I’ll have to think about it some more. Thanks for the ideas!
